What Is an Age Calculator?

An Age Calculator determines a person's age between a date of birth and a selected calculation date. It can show the result in years, months and days as well as other useful time measurements.

How Does This Age Calculator Work?

Enter your date of birth and the date on which you want to calculate your age. The calculator uses calendar dates to determine the exact number of completed years, remaining months, and remaining days.

Total Days, Weeks, Hours and Minutes

Total days are based on the difference between the two calendar dates. Total weeks are calculated from total days. Hours and minutes represent the equivalent duration assuming each calendar day contains 24 hours.

Important: Because this calculator works with dates rather than birth times, the Hours and Minutes figures represent whole-day equivalents. They do not account for the exact time of birth.

How Is the Next Birthday Calculated?

The calculator finds the next occurrence of the birth month and day after the selected calculation date. For a February 29 birthday, a non-leap year uses February 28 as the birthday date for this countdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this Age Calculator free?
Yes. The Age Calculator is free to use and does not require registration.
Can I calculate my age on a past or future date?
Yes. Enter the date you want to use in the Calculate Age On field. The selected date must not be earlier than the date of birth.
Does the calculator handle leap years?
Yes. The calendar calculation accounts for different month lengths and leap years.
Why are hours and minutes approximate?
The calculator asks for dates, not exact times of birth. Therefore, hours and minutes are calculated from the total number of whole days between the two dates.
What happens for a February 29 birthday in a non-leap year?
For the next-birthday countdown, February 28 is used in a non-leap year because February 29 does not occur that year.
